Bank Recovery Support Worker - Penywern Project

Please Note: The application deadline for this job has now passed.

Job Introduction

We are looking for a dedicated, passionate and skilled bank support workers to join our established and experienced team at Penywern Project that consists of 3 services.

Richardson House (SW10) and Penywern House (SW5) - Supported Housing

The services provide high support housing to service users with enduring mental health backgrounds. The Services consist of 11 and 12 self-contained fully furnished flats. The Services offer a full rehabilitation package. We aim to support and assess on-going needs of our service users in order to build on their existing skills while learning new ones. All service users are allocated to a named Project Worker and Support Worker/s. Service users are required to fully participate in the process of planning their care, which includes attending support/keywork sessions with staff; this time is for tenants to discuss any issues or areas of concern they may have or perhaps go out for a coffee, or be supported with a practical task in their flat such as cleaning or laundry.

Hazel House (SW5) - Registered Care

Hazel House is a residential care unit with 10 rooms for residents, extensive areas and a beautiful small park behind the service. Our service users have more profound mental health and physical health issues. We support them to remain more independent and to move to less supported services or to maintain their optimum level of health and independence.

Hours: This is a bank contract, if you lead a busy life and want to pick up a few shifts here and there, this would be ideal for you.

Role Responsibility

As a Support Worker, you will make a real difference to residents' lives as you improve their daily living skills and provide therapeutic support.

No matter how complex a person's needs, whether they've tried support services or not in the past, we can provide person-centered support that helps individuals decrease isolation, increase independence, learn new skills, integrate into the community and make the most of every new opportunity.

The Ideal Candidate

While some knowledge of supporting people with mental health and complex needs would be beneficial, we are also looking for someone who is flexible and patient and is able to view situations from a service user's perspective.

Situations can sometimes be difficult and challenging, so you'll need to be non-judgmental, with a sensitive approach and a good understanding of how to support people during these times. At a practical level, you'll need good IT and communication skills including numeracy and literacy in order to produce reports and support plans. We are looking for someone with a good awareness of mental health problems or completion of a relevant degree, and can bring with you the flexibility to work on Rota basis.
