Bank Recovery Support Worker
Job Introduction
At Turning Point, we support people across England with mental health issues. As a Support Worker, you’ll make a real difference to their lives as you introduce them to the personal, flexible and realistic support they need to improve the quality of their lives in their communities. Passionate about people, you’ll enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life and career too, as you gain the experience, training and education you need to progress in your career with us.
We are looking for a dedicated support worker to join our established and experienced team at Wilbraham Road where we work with people experiencing severe and enduring mental health problems who have stepped down from hospital.
Raising the bar for people-centered service, you’ll enable people to learn the skills and knowledge they need to understand and manage their own situation more independently. No matter how complex someone’s mental health needs, you’ll provide support that helps individuals to decrease isolation, integrate into the community and make the most of every new opportunity.
Role Responsibility
As a part of our professional team at Wilbraham Road, you will work one-to-one (as well as in groups) with service users, preparing person-centered support plans and gaining a full understanding of their needs and concerns. Helping them with everything from their benefits to booking medical appointments, you’ll need to love talking to people with different needs, be interested in helping them and possess a deep level of empathy, understanding and patience.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a Recovery Support Worker who knows how to build close relationships and gain people’s trust quickly. At Wilbraham Road, empathy is not just a word, it’s the beating heart of the way we work with our clients. You will be pro-active in identifying problems and managing risks, being willing to go the extra mile to promote our clients’ ability to ultimately live independently.
You don’t need any formal qualifications as full training will be given, although experience in a similar role would be a big advantage. What is essential is that you have an awareness of mental health problems and can bring with you the flexibility to work in a 24-hour shift pattern including evenings, weekends and sleep-in shifts. In return, you’ll be supported with outstanding training and career development opportunities.
