Role Responsibility
The Advanced Recovery Practitioner acts as ‘key worker’ to a caseload of service users with complex needs, supporting them to develop plans to achieve their goals, maintaining regular contact with clients, offering advice, information and psycho-social interventions as well as providing person-led assessments, risk management planning and working closely with in-house clinical staff and partner agencies.
No day is the same in this role, so an ability to communicate effectively with a range of service users and colleagues, an ability to manage a busy schedule and a commitment to Turning Point values is essential. You may have lived experience of substance use or come with experience of supporting people in health and social care, or hold a professional qualification such as social work, nursing or Health and Social Care.
You will join an established, multi-disciplinary team of recovery workers, clinicians, volunteers, and peer mentors and be encouraged to work alongside a range of partners in criminal justice, housing and health and social care.
As an Advanced Recovery Practitioner, you will support service users to engage in treatment, offering one-to-one support via key working appointments, and delivering workshops to help people gain new skills and understanding. Holding a case load, you will ensure a personalised care package is offered, and service users are provided with harm reduction advice, access to treatment and testing, and support them to achieve their recovery goals. You will work in partnership with other agencies to ensure a truly holistic treatment offer for all our service users.
The Ideal Candidate
You will have a substantial understanding of drug and alcohol use and the challenges and opportunities for individuals on a recovery journey, we also welcome people with lived experience although this is not essential. You will have a background in Psychology or Counselling, with relevant recognised qualifications.
The role is varied, so flexibility, an ability to work dynamically on a one to one and group basis, and knowledge of relapse and other barriers to recovery will be vital. We also look for candidates with excellent communication skills who share our values as an organisation. You will need to be proactive and able to engage with a range of partner agencies to help meet the needs of service users, as well as paying close attention to detail to maintain case notes and monitor interventions.
We value individual creativity and initiative and, whatever your role, you will be fully involved in identifying opportunities to improve the quality of our services and the service user experience. Your ideas will be listened to, and your suggestions implemented wherever possible. You will be supported in your role by extensive training to help develop your skills. Our learning culture encourages everyone to stay on top of the latest developments in their field and helps drive service improvement.
Someone with local knowledge of the county will be an advantage but not essential. You will be required to travel across the county so being a car owner, having access to a vehicle, or having a valid UK driving licence will be essential.
